Rock Steady Boxing Bay Area is an affiliate location of Rock Steady Boxing (RSB), a fitness program founded to provide an effective form of physical exercise to people who are living with Parkinson’s Disease. This Non-contact, boxing inspired fitness routine is dramatically improving the ability of people with Parkinson’s to live independent lives.
RSB enables people with Parkinson’s disease to fight back through a non-contact boxing-style fitness program. This program works to improve participants quality of life and sense of efficacy and self-worth. Studies suggest that intense exercise programs can be “neuro-protective,” actually working to delay the progression of symptoms. RSB classes have proven that anyone, at any level of Parkinson’s, can actually lessen their symptoms and lead a healthier and happier life by participating in classes regularly.
Boxing inspired classes are taught by qualified trainers, certified through the Rock Steady Boxing method. Classes focus on overall fitness, strength training, reaction time and balance, and include activities like working with focus mitts, punching heavy boxing bags, jumping rope, weight training, and more. RSB coaches give encouragement through a “tough love” approach, inspiring maximum effort and thus achieving maximum results. No boxing or fitness experience is necessary and people of all ages and levels are invited to participate.
